The Key to Having a Productive Week

With so much uncertainty in the world right now it’s hard to remain focused on what’s most important to you.

When I was pregnant with my second child I started a practice of writing down five things that I was grateful for each day and ten goals.

This practice allowed me to get laser-focused on what really matters.  Which was my health.  My overall health suffered through depression, anxiety, and stresses of life which lead to obesity.

When I was pregnant I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and it was a major blow.  I mean I know that I wasn’t healthy, in fact after that doctor’s appointment (before I got the call that I had it!) I bought SO much junk food.

My body craved sugar and crap.

So when they called and told me to stop all sweets - I started crying!

The tears really fell when I had to teach myself how to take my own blood sugars.  (anyone else?!)

After I had my pity party and realized that my food choices were going to affect my unborn child I immediately took my health seriously.

Sometimes it takes unexpected to jolt us into shifting our priorities.  Just like an unplanned pregnancy.  Prior to my first pregnancy - I wanted to fit it.  I wanted to be liked, drink, and party with my peers.

“But all the while I felt like something was off.”

We all know when things don’t feel right and we have a tendency to stick with what’s easy.  Our brains are wired to take shortcuts and don’t want to feel pain.

So how can you have a productive week?

I’m going to share what works for me.

Every morning (sometimes it’s later or at night depending on the kids) I write down the five things that I’m grateful for and my ten goals.

When health was number one, everything else still rolled out.  It was getting my steps in, tracking my food, and adjusting my habits to incorporate healthy practices to love and nourish my body.

For years I had put work first and when I shifted the priority in my mind (writing it out - makes it stick!) work, family life, and everything else started to feel better.

“I started to get into the flow of life again”

So whatever it is that you are feeling led to do - focus and take baby steps

Walk to the mailbox and back.

Eat one portion instead of two.

Read one chapter in a week instead of five.

Don’t watch the news or scroll through social media if it’s not making you feel good.

You are on a journey.  The quicker you come to realize this and start focusing on your mind, things will start to happen.

Like all change - it can be hard and feel strange, but I believe in you!

So, tell me what’s the one thing you are focused on.

Shoot me a DM on IG @theunplannedmomschool and feel the power of telling at least one person.

Rooting for  you always,

xx Ashley
